Important disclaimer here, which is stated in more detail at the bottom of the page ... all of my figures here are based on an average estimated reimbursement of $100 for an ultrasound exam and $150 for a guided injection. The actual amount paid out, of course, varies according to the insurance carrier and the state you are in. But as working numbers, $100 and $150 are very accurate nationwide. Often it's higher, rarely lower.

Now, on to the scenarios ...

Scenario A (you purchase the ultrasound outright)
Let's say you only use your podiatry ultrasound twice in a day. You see one plantar fasciitis patient in the morning, and you look at one Achilles tendon in the afternoon. That's it. Five minutes each time, ten minutes total. Two patients. That's it and that's all. Now, in our training we are also going to ensure that you are able to give certain injections using your ultrasound to guide them. Let's say you do that just once a day. Out of all the injections you give, you find one that you will use your ultrasound on. That's it. One injection. Finally, let's further imagine that you only see patients four days a week (maybe you are in surgery on Fridays).

What's that all add up to?

  • Perform 2 exams + 1 guided injection = $350 a day in reimbursements.
  • Work only four days a week = $1,400 a week ...
  • Which works out to about $6,000 a month ... or over $70,000 a year.
How's that for a return on your investment?

Scenario B (finance your podiatry ultrasound)
Let's say you do exactly the same thing. Two exams a day, one injection, four days a week. But in this case, you are financing the ultrasound at about $250 a month (probably our most common payment option clients seem to take).

What's the return on investment look like then?

  • You're still earning $6,000 a month ...
  • But if you are only paying out $250/mo as your payment ...
  • You are literally seeing a Return On Investement of 2,400% every month!

Consider this for a second. Time is money, right? If you can turn on the ultrasound and spend three minutes capturing an image of the patient's plantar fascia, make three specific measurements, annotate the image, and save or print it — you just earned an extra $100 for that time you spent with the patient. You have given greater care to the patient, perhaps made an important distinction that will affect the course of treatment you prescribe, and at the very least certainly recorded some useful measurements for the patient's chart that you will be able to refer back to later. And because of that, you earned an extra one hundred dollars.

You're probably not going to believe me when I say you can do all of that in three minutes, so let's call it five minutes. (You will definitely be able to do the majority of your plantar fascia exams in five minutes or less with our training.) So if you can earn $100 in five minutes, that works out $1,200 an hour.

Anything that earns you $100 every 5 minutes is a valuable tool to have in your office.
